Chandigarh IT park to provide 67,000 jobs
Chandigarh, Apr 16 (UNI) Completion of Phase III of Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park (RGCTP) will provide jobs to 35,000 professionals, thereby increasing the direct employment of RGCTP to 67,000.
Since every IT job creates 3 indirect jobs, this will translate into 200000 indirect jobs in Chandigarh, an official spokesman said.
"RGCTP was conceived with a vision to transform Chandigarh as another Technology Destination with an objective to create employment opportunities for the youth of the whole Region as well as to retain the educated youth of the region who were migrating to foreign shores," he said.
The development of RGCTP was conceived to be undertaken by the Administration in three Phases. The allotment of land for Phase I and II has been already completed. Only around 10 acres, comprising of six BTS sites and one small campus site is left for allotment.
Already more than 5,000 IT professionals are working here which is anticipated to increase to 10000, 20000 and 32000 by the end of fiscal years 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11 respectively.
The land acquisition proceedings for Phase III of Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park (RGCTP) are completed for which the laid down law has been followed meticulously, the spokesman said.
The Policy for rehabilitation of the displaced persons has also been harmonized by the Administration with the National Rehabilitation and Resettlement Policy (NRRP), 2008.
"Determination of compensation amount to the displaced persons for Phase III of RGCTP has been done in a similar manner as was done for the land acquired for Phase I and II of RGCTP and as per the procedure laid down under the Land Acquisition Act". "However, if any person is aggrieved by this Award, the law mandates remedial procedure as he can file an appeal in a court of law," the spokesman said.
