TDP gears up for joint stir with Left against price rise
Hyderabad, Apr 15 (UNI) The main opposition Telugu Desam Party(TDP) in Andhra Pradesh is preparing itself for a joint struggle with the Left parties on April 17 in protest against skyrocketing prices of essential commodities.
Talking to newspersons here today after releasing a poster for the joint stir, former Assembly Speaker and senior TDP leader Y Ramakrishnudu alleged that the ruling Congress, both at the Centre and in Andhra Pradesh, had ''totally failed'' to check the prices of all commodities.
Mr Ramakrishnudu said TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu, CPI State Secretary K Narayana and CPI(M) State Secretary B V Raghavulu would take part in the joint protest.
While the United Progressive Alliance(UPA) Government at the Centre was responsible for the inflation crossing 7.41 per cent mark, the Rajasekhara Reddy Government in the State had failed to intervene in the market to ensure that essential commodities were available at reasonable prices to the common man, he alleged.
More and more people were joining Below Poverty Line(BPL) category due to ''wrong policies'' of the Centre and State Government, he claimed.
