Prison authorities still tightlipped over Priyanka's visit
Vellore, Apr 15 (UNI) Central prison authorities here as well as district police authorities are still maintaining a stoic silence over Priyanka Vadra's visit a month ago to meet her father Rajiv Gandhi's assassin Nalini Sriharan.
Contacted about the visit shrouded in secrecy, but which came to light yesterday, only Nalini's advocate Duraiswamy directly confirmed the meeting.
Vellore Central Prison Superintendent of Police, top District officials as well as that of police are still pleading ignorance about Priyanka's visit to the prison to see Nalini.
However, State IB officials said only Central intelligence Bureau may have known about the visit and permission would have been granted only after clearance from the Union and the Tamil Nadu state Home Secretaries.
They also said the visit would have been kept under tight wraps only because Parliament was in session at that time.
Priyanka's visit to the Golden temple here on March 19 was reported. Her visit to the Central prison and the meeting with Nalini is now being discussed sensationally here.
Nalini has been in the prison for 17 years now after being convicted in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case along her husband Murugan, another key accused in the case.
