Power Ministry reviews appointment of NTPC's Chairman
New Delhi, Apr 15 (UNI) The Union Power Ministry, which had earlier recommended Mr Chandan Roy's name as the future Chairman of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has decided to review its decision.
Instead, the Ministry has proposed NTPC Director (Commercial) R S Sharma's name to succeed present Chairman T Shankaralingam, who retires this month.
Mr Roy, who is Director (Operations), was the front-runner, while Mr Sharma was Public Enterprise Selection Board's second choice.
According to sources, Mr Roy's name was dropped because the ministry felt that Mr Sharma has more experience, especially since he has handled two projects and being the Commercial Director, he has greater exposure.
