Pak PM Gilani to enact a new anti-terror policy soon

Islamabad, Apr 15 : The new PPP-led government in Pakistan will shortly devise a counter-terrorism policy for the country's intelligence and law-enforcement agencies, Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said last evening.

Attending an intelligence briefing at the ISI Headquarters, Gilani said that his government would financially support ISI's efforts to combat the menace of terrorism.

No compromise would be made on national security and the defence of the country, he said and added that force was not the only answer and that dialogue would be conducted after considering all political aspects.

The prime minister was briefed on the ISI's role in the fight against terrorism and informed about its success thus far by the ISI officers concerned. Besides, the premier was briefed on the intelligence agencies' co-operation with the CIA and also apprised of the strategies currently in place to counter threats to security, an Online News agency report said.
