Land acquisition required for industry: Munat
Kolkata, Apr 15 (UNI) Land acquisition is required for industrialisation but a proper rehabilitation and resettlement policy should be formulated to provide a win-win situation for all, Chhattisgarh Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Rajesh Munat said today.
Addressing a meeting on ''Challenges of Inclusiveness and Sustainability'', organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here, the Minister informed that in Chhattisgarh, over 54,000 acres of land was already acquired for industry.
Mr Munat said the R&R policy of Chhattisgarh stated that industry has to provide a job to the family losing its land.
The government has also asked the industries to set up training institutes to increase employability of the people who were losing their lands, he said adding land for land was another alternative.
Speaking on the occasion, Jharkhand Deputy Chief Minister Sudhir Mahato said with rapid industrialisation in his state, the R&R policy was also at its final stage.
Regarding environmental concern, Mr Mahato said that with greenfield projects coming into Jharkhand, the state is looking towards balanced and ecological growth.
Orissa Energy, IT&Culture Minister S N Patro, who was also present, said Orissa possessed huge quantity of mines and minerals, immense potential for industrialisation and growth.
