Hearing in Sankararaman murder case posted to June 6
Puducherry, Apr 15 (UNI) Puducherry Principal District and Sessions Judge D Krishna Raja today posted the Sankararaman murder case in which Kanchi Acharyas Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra Saraswathi are prime accused to June 6 for further hearing.
When the case came up before the court, 16 out of the 24 accused, including the Acharyas failed to turn up and separate petitions, citing the reasons for their absence were filed by their respective counsels.
The proceedings in the case could not be conducted here as the Supreme Court had granted a stay on a Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the defence on the continued appearance of Tamil Nadu Special Public Prosecutor in the case in the Union Territory.
The trial in the apex court on the SLP has been completed and the judgement was reserved.
