HC rejects election petition against Kalyan Singh
Allahabad, Apr 15 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court today dismissed an election petition chalklenging the victory of Kalyan Singh, who contested from Bulandshahr in 2004 Parliamentary election and was elected as an MP.
The election petition was filed by S M Asif, an independent candidate, who contested in election from Bulandshahar.
Asif's candidature was dismissed by Returning Officer then.
Hearing the case, Justice Rakesh Tiwari dismissed the petition on the ground that election petition was not maintainable.
A preliminary objection was raised against the election petition by Keshri Nath Tripathi on behalf of Kalyan Singh that such petition can only be filed by a duly nominated candidate.
