Haryana can save Rs 2000 cr by power saving measures
Chandigarh, Apr 15 (UNI) As much as 565 MW of power can be saved by adopting various power saving measures in Haryana, thereby saving a sum of Rs 2000 crore required to generate so much power.
This was stated by Mr S L Kansal, Director, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, while speaking in a seminar on ''Merits of Power Saving and De-merits of Power Theft'' at Jhajjar today.
He said various provisions of the act on power saving had been enforced in the state, but public cooperation was imperative to achieve the desired results.
Making fervent appeal to the people not to indulge in power theft, he said this led to unscheduled power cuts, impediments in maintaining essential services, less voltage and so many other technical problems.
Mass awareness campaign to educate people about various power saving measures and check power theft was being carried out in the state during the month of April and May.
Power theft had been made cognisable offence in the state, he added.
