Fifty new members introduced in Rajya Sabha

New Delhi, Apr 15 (UNI) Fifty newly-elected members of the Rajya Sabha were administered the oath of affirmation today.

Secretary General V K Agnihotri administered the oath of affirmation to 50 members out of the total 55 who were recently elected to the Upper House.

Prominent among the members who took oath included Motilal Vora, Murli Deora, Prem Chand Gupta, C P Thakur, Prem Chand Gupta, Shanta Kumar, Balbir Punj, Jayanthi Natrajan.

Welcoming the new members, Chairman Hamid Ansari observed that the new members would in due course adjust themselves to the procedure and practices followed in the House.

They would contribute towards enriching the tradition of the House thereby enhancing the dignity of the Upper House, he said.
