Contentious issues of Pancheswar project remain
New Delhi, Apr 15 (UNI) India and Nepal have conducted joint survey and investigations of the Pancheshwar Project except for some confirmatory geo-physical tests required on the Nepal bank at Rupaligad (alternative) site for re-regulating structure, Minister of State for Water Resources Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav said today.
However, no discussions could be held with Nepal since December 2004 due to the internal situation prevailing there, he told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.
The contentious issues include apportionment of cost between power and irrigation between the two countries, installation capacity and water availability downstream of Pancheshwar which were pending a final decision with the Nepal Government.
