Clash in Punjab village leaves 13 injured

Bathinda, Apr 15 (UNI) As many as 13 people were injured in a clash between two groups at Khialiwala village in the district today, police here said.

According to police reports, the clash took place between members of the Dalit Sena and the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU-kratikari), which was supported by the Pendu Mazdoor Union and Aurat Mukti Morcha. The bone of contention was a residential plot which was under the occupation of Maghu Singh, a member of the Dalit Sena.

Nachattar Singh a member of the BKU, too had laid his claim to the plot on the bases of a court order. The BKU group clashed with the Dalit Sena members when they attempted to evict Maghu Singh from the disputed plot, they said.

In the clash the two sides used rods, lathis and sharp edged weapons leading to injuries to 13 people. The police resorted to firing in the air to seprate the two groups, they said.

The police has registered a case against members of both groups, but no arrests have been made so far, they added.
