BJP holds dharna against price rise in Rajasthan

aipur, Apr 15 (UNI) The BJP Rajasthan unit today held a dharna in protest against the steep rise in price of essential commodities holding the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh responsible for the ''unprecedented price rise''.

The dharna and demonstration held at the Manak Chowk Chaupar here was part of the party's countrywide campaign launched to dock the UPA Government over the issue.

Former party President M Venkaiah Naidu, General Secretary Gopinath Munde, state President sitting MP Omprakash Mathur and several other party leaders participated in the dharna.

Mr Naidu took exception to ''irresponsible and indecent statements'' made by various Union Ministers, including Mr Laloo Prasad, Mr Sharad Pawar and Mr Praful Patel.

Mr Naidu said that corruption and ''unwise'' policies of the UPA Government were responsible for the price hike.

He also condemned the UPA Government and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi for ''running away from responsibility by holding the state governments responsible for the price hike.'' Party General Secretary Mr Munde alleged that the UPA Government was discriminating BJP ruled states in allocation of wheat and other sanctions.

BJP state President Om Prakash Mathur also spoke on the occasion.
