Action against sugar factories creating pollution: Ajit pawar
Mumbai, Apr 15 (UNI) Maharashtra Water Resources Minister Ajit Pawar today warned the sugar factories, spreading pollution in the adjoining rivers, that government would take strict action against them.
Making a statement on the issue raised by Neelam Gorhe (Shiv Sena) in the state legislative council, Mr Pawar said the government has sent notices to sugar factories in this regard and asked them to set up water treatment plants.
''Instead of polluting the rivers by releasing molasses, the factories should set up water treatment plants using funds provided for such plants by the government. The treated water can be used for farming purpose,'' the minister said.
