70-year old battered to death by brother-in-law

Sangrur, Apr 15 (UNI) A 70-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his brother-in-law in Malerkotla town of the district this morning, police sources here said.

According to sources, the alleged assalaint, Iqbal Mohammed alias Thakedar assisted by his son, Kazan and grandson, Gufran forced their entry into the house of 70-year old Fateh Mohammed in the Satta Chowk area of the town. Without any provocation, the trio picked up bricks lying in the house and battered the old man to death.

On the statement of Abdul Sattar, son of the deceased, the police registered a case against the three culprits who were seen fleeing the house after committing the murder by neighbours. Iqbal Mohammed was involved in a property dispute with the deceased, who was his brother-in-law.

The police is yet to arrest the three.
