350 fire accidents in central Kashmir, Rs 838 Cr property saved
Srinagar, Apr 15 (UNI) The Fire and Emergency Service (FES) in the central Kashmir district of Badgam has saved property worth Rs 838 crore during 350 fire accidents, an official spokesman has said.
He said this information was given at a function organised in connection with FES week being observed in the district from yesterday.
Development Commissioner Khawaja Farooq Ahmed Renzu was informed that main idea of organising the FES week was to educate people about the preventive measures.
Assistant Director Command Budgam said there were about 350 fire accidents in the district. However, due to immediate and timely action by the firebrigade officials, property worth Rs 838 crore was saved from being destroyed.
He said a major fire accident was averted when fire broke out in tyres of Air bus while land Srinagar Airport carrying Haj pilgrims.
