WB: 2 dead, 3 injured in seperate road mishaps

Barrackpore, Apr 15: At least two peole were killed and others injured in seperate accidents on the Sodepur-Madhyamgram road under Ghola police station in North 24 Parganas near here today. Police said the first mishap occurred when a Sodepur-bound speedy lorry struck an autorickshaw, killing a 52-year old man on the spot and injuring three others.

However, the driver of the lorry managed to flee, police said. The body was sent for post-mortem and the injured were rushed to the nearby Panihati State General Hospital from where one of them was referred to R G Kar Medical College and Hospital.

In another accident which occurred a few hours later, a 62-year old local pedestrian was killed on the same road near H B Town when a private car crushed him to death. Irate local people soon overpowered the car and handed over its driver to the police.
