4 people injured in group clashes in Vishnagar
Ahmedabad, Apr 14 (UNI) Four people, including a policeman, were injured in clashes between two groups in Mandi Bazar area of the communally sensitive Vishnagar town in Mehsana district of Gujarat today.
Police fired at least 10 rounds in the air to disperse the clashing groups in Mandi Bazar area this afternoon. The trouble broke out over parking of an auto-rickshaw, leading to clashes between the two groups.
The policeman was injured in stone-pelting by the two groups, while three others sustained injuries in the clashes.
The police arrested as many as 30 people on charges of rioting from the Mandi Bazar area.
Initially, the police resorted to lathi-charge and lobbed tear-gas shells to control the situation. But as the violence picked up, they subsequently fired 10 rounds in the air to disperse the clashing groups.
The situation was tense but under control in the town tonight, the police said.
