Puja Chauhan arrested for assaulting cop in Guj

Rajkot, Apr 13 (UNI) Puja Chauhan (23), who created a stir in July last year by walkings semi-nude through the streets of Rajkot to protest against alleged torture by her husand and in-laws, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer.

Puja was arrested yesterday when she tried to assault ASI Daya Gondaliya and smashed the glass panes at the police officer's office.

Puja had complained to the police officer at Gandhigram Police station yesterday that she was not being allowed to fill water from a tanker near her house at Shastrinagar by the neighbours.

Acting on the complaint, police reached Shastrinagar but the tanker had already left the area.

Furious over the fact that the police had not taken any action, Puja went back to the police station in the afternoon and smashed the window panes and glass door of the police officer's office with a baseball bat after allegedly assaulting Ms Gondaliya.

The police immediately arrested Puja and registered a case against her, the police said.

Puja had filed a complaint against her neighbours last month in which she had stated that they were threatening to kill her and were forcing her to vacate the house. On her complaint, police had arrested four people, including a woman.

One of Puja's neighbour, Vinodhbhai Parmar, had also filed a complaint against her for indecent behaviour in public on the same day. Puja had then been booked under the Atrocities Act.
