Matt Damon and Thandie Newton join Darfur protest

Washington, April 13 : Hollywood stars Matt Damon and Thandie Newton are among stars who have taken a stand to bring an end to the bloody conflict in Darfur, Sudan.

As part of the fifth anniversary protests over the continuing conflict, Damon destroyed a dollhouse and child's drawings to symbolise the shattering of young lives in the region.

"After the genocide in Rwanda we all shook our heads and said never again," People quoted him, as saying.

"Today, as killings mount in Darfur we need to make never again a priority and demand protection for the most vulnerable," he added.

Newton said: "If it had been my childhood that was under attack I would have expected help. Five years is five years too long."
