Head-on bus collision kills six, injure 32
Murshidabad, Apr 13 (UNI) At least six people were killed and 32 injured, six of them critically, when two speeding private buses collided in a head on NH 34 at Ratanpur village under Sagardighi police station, in the district, this evening.
Superintendent of Police Basav Dasgupta said most of the injured had been shifted to Sagardighi hospital and some to the Berhampore hospital.
Condition of six injured was critical.
The accident occurred at 1845 hours when the Sagardighi bound bus from Berhampore and the Farrakha bound bus hit each other. Both the ill fated buses, which had scores of passengers, were on high speed.
The identification of the dead was yet to be known. However, among the deceased, five were adult males and one female, the SP said quoting a first hand report as saying.
He said most of the injured were aged people and children.
He said the toll might go up as rescue operation was hit by dark and chaos.
