Cooperative Ministers urge govt to raise land holding ceiling
Jaipur, Apr 13 (UNI) Cooperative Ministers and leaders from 15 states has urged the Centre to raise the land holding ceiling in Rs 60,000 crore farmers' Loan Waiver Scheme up to 10 hectares, Rajasthan Cooperative Minister Nathu Singh Gurjar said here today.
In the one-day National Conference on Cooperatives, held here yesterday, cooperative Ministers and/or cooperative leaders, who participated in the meet, were of the view that without raising the land holding ceiling, the benefit could not be percolated to needy small and marginal farmers.
The meet also resolved to work to evolve joint strategy and programmes to put before the Centre issues and problems being faced by the states in the cooperative sector.
It also laid emphasis on modernisation and diversification of Cooperative bodies with greater role in the consumer sector.
For effective role in the consumer sector idea of cooperative-private sector partnership had also been mooted, Mr Gurjar said.
Besides this, several reforms and innovative approach in the programme implementation were also suggested by the delegates.
The next conference would be held in Maharashtra for which date would be fixed later on, he added.
