Centre to go ahead with 27 pc reservation
Chennai, Apr 13 (UNI) The Centre will go ahead with the implementation of 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in higher educational institutions like IITs and IIMs, said Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh.
He conveyed this in a letter to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi, a copy of which was released to the media here.
In the letter, Mr Singh said all the contentious issues would be taken up subsequently in consultation with all the UPA allies.
Referring to the apex court's verdict upholding 27 per cent quota for OBCs, he said this was possible only because of the constant support and guidance given to him by Mr Karunanidhi on the issue.
