Thirty-five kg poppy straw seized in Udhampur
Jammu, Apr 12 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police arrested a truck driver and seized 35 kg of poppy straw (Bhukhi) from him in Kud area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Udhampur district, official sources here said today .
Acting on a tip-off, a special nakka was laid down late last night near Kud on the National Highway and a truck was intercepted by the police, they said.
''The driver identified as Bahadur Singh, a resident of Nar Singhpura Kalakot district Rajouri was apprehended on the spot and 35 kg of poppy straw was recovered from his vehicle,'' the sources told UNI.
However, a case has been registered against him and the vehicle has been seized along with the contraband.
