Rs 19.64 crore relief to drought-hit fSiwani farmers
Chandigarh, Apr 12 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh today announced a compensation of Rs 19.64 crore at the rate of Rs 2,000 per acre to the farmers of Siwani tehsil of district Bhiwani for the loss of their Kharif crops 2007 due to drought like situation.
A special girdawari was ordered by the State Government to assess the loss of crops during kharif 2007 due to drought in tehsil Siwani of Bhiwani district.
Crops sown over an area of 98,200 acres were assessed to be damaged by 25 per cent to 50 per cent.
The State Government would give compensation at a rate of Rs 2000 per acre to the drought affected farmers and the entire compensation amount would be borne by the State Government.
