President, PM greet people on Baisakhi tomorrow

New Delhi, Apr 12 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today greeted the people on the eve of Baisakhi.

They wished happiness and prosperity of the nation on the occasion of this harvest festival.

In her message, President Patil said, ''On the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi, I extend my greetings and good wishes to all my countrymen and particularly to those who are engaged in agriculture and cultivation.'' The Prime Minister said these harvest festivals -- Baisakhi, Mesadi, Vishu, Vaisakhadi and Bahag Bihu are occasions of rejoice over the fruits of the farmer's toil, adding that these are not only an occasion for joy but also an occasion to be grateful to nature for its bounty.

''May these festivals usher an year of prosperity and happiness for all,'' Dr Singh added.
