Man lynched for stealing

Basirhat, Apr 12 (UNI) A man was lynched by a mob at Dhaltita Modalpara area under Basirhat police station near here, in North 24 Parganas early today.

Police said the 30-year-old victim was nabbed by locals while he along with two others were trying to enter a house with a motive to steal.

The house owner raised an alarm following which the villagers chased the three and caught the victim, who was mercilessly beaten to death by the irate villgers.

Basirhat SDPO S Gangopadhyay said a case of unnatural death had been registered and investigation was on.

Meanwhile, the preliminary investigation revealed that the youth might be a resident of Duttapukur area under Barasat police station, however, his identity had not been established so far.
