Budhni to be developed as textile hub

Bhopal, Apr 12 (UNI) With a number of textile units coming up and many more in the pipeline, Budhni, 70 km from the state capital, and adjoining Mandideep-Satlapur area is fast developing into a textile hub.

Several other industrialists are showing keen interest in setting textile units in the area, industry department sources said.

A composite textile mill is being set up by the Vardhman Group at an area of 700 acre with an initial investment of about Rs 800 crore. The mill would manufacture cloth besides thread. The mill has a capacity of producing four crore metre cloth every year.

Sources said Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan would inaugurate the mill tomorrow. Industries Minister Jayant Malaiya, Vardhman Group Chairman S P Oswal and industry department officials would be present.

Vardhman Group's Anant spinning mill and two units of Vardhman Yarns in Satlapur are already functioning in the area.

Abhishek Industries, the flagship company of the Rs 1,500-crore Trident group, has chalked out an investment plan to set up an textile project. Nahar group's spinning mill and Bhaskar group's mill are also operating in the area.

Vardhman Group's Ludhiana spokesperson said the mill to be inaugurated tomorrow was the group's 20th in the country and third in the state. More investment was expected in future.

Production would be carried out on 400 ultra-modern looms of Tsudokama and Toyota. Besides, the company has set up its own 24 MW thermal power unit that would continue production. More than 2,000 people would gain employment from this unit.
