Australia announces increase in immigration intake
Hyderabad, Apr 12 (UNI) The Australian Government has announced a significant increase in its immigration programme for the year 2008-09 to overcome the shortage of skilled persons, AK Migration and Visa Services Director Atul Kapoor said today.
Addressing a seminar on 'Migration Opportunity to Australia' here, he said Australia's economy was bvgrowing above four per cent due to world demand for resources. This had led to shortage of skilled professional, as Australia needed highly skilled people for the next five years to meet its growth demands, he added.
Mr Kapoor said Australia was experiencing shortage of doctors, engineers, accountants, managers and nurses, among others. The country was also facing shortage of trade skilled personnel like carpenters and mechanics, he added.
The seminar was aimed at educating the people in India on the process and opportunity to proceed to Australia, a release here said.
