EU Assembly moots Olympics ceremony boycott

Brussels, Apr 11, 2008 : The European Parliament has approved by an overwhelming majority a resolution on Tibet calling for 'the non-attendance of the Olympic Games opening ceremony in the event if there is no resumption of dialogue between the Chinese authorities and His Holiness the Dalai Lama'.

Edward McMillan-Scott, one of the European Parliament Vice-President, welcomed the result of the vote and said it should put pressure on European politicians.
