TN assembly passes resolution lauding CM on reservation issue
Chennai, Apr 11 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Assembly today passed an unanimous resolution hailing Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi for instrumental in Supreme court upholding 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in Central Institutions like IITs and IIMs.
The resolution, moved by PMK Floor leader G K Mani and seconded by Congress Legislature Party leader D Sudarsanam was unanimously passed by voice vote, amid loud thumpings of desks by the members.
Speaking on the resolution, Mr Karunanidhi traced the roots of the 100-year-long journey of social justice dating back to 1920s and said the journey was unending.
''With the Supreme Court upholding the quota for OBCSs, the struggle for achieving 100 per cent social justice has not ended.
Still, we have to go a long way as the journey is unending'', he added.
