Price rise: BJP women workers cane charged in Jammu

Jammu, Apr 11 (UNI) Ahead of Congress president Sonia Gandhi's visit to Jammu and Kashmir, police today lathicharged the women workers of the BJP protesting against price rise in front of Civil Secretariat here.

''Inflation is sky high and the administration here is busy in welcoming UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi,'' BJP state president Ashok Khajuria told UNI.

He said inflation had broken all the records and when it was protested by the BJP women workers, they were cane-charged and thrashed, which was ''condemnable''.

He alleged that the civil administration had directed all schools and colleges to participate in a women convention to be addressed by Ms Gandhi here tomorrow.
