Nitish stresses on quality education for development of Bihar

Purnea, Apr 11(UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today underlined the need of providing quality education to students from all section of the society to push the state on fast track of development.

Addressing a function here, Mr Kumar said the era of 'might is right' had gone and power could be achieved through attaining knowledge and wisdom as world was fast turning into a high-tech global village.

Mr Kumar said the NDA government had initiated the process of construction of school buildings and providing other essential infrastructural facilities for improving the education standard in the state.

''A large number of teachers had already been recruited while the process of appointment of more teachers was on,'' he said adding incentives in the form of school uniforms and bicycle were also being provided to girl students.

Law and order situation in the state had considerably improved after the NDA government came to power in November 2005, he said and stressed on the need for ''peace and tranquility'' among different sections of the society for development and prosperity of the state.

Mr Kumar said the state government had launched the massive operation for reconstruction of roads, bridges and houses damaged during one of the worst floods that hit north Bihar last year.

'' One quintal food grains and cash assistance had been given to flood victims,'' he said and added that farmers had been suitably compensated for the loss of their standing crops in flood. The families of those lost their life in flood, would get Rs 1.5 lakhs as compensation, he added.
