NASSCOM announces roadmap for 2009

Hyderabad, Apr 11 (UNI) NASSCOM, the premier trade body representing the Indian IT-BPO industry, today announced its roadmap for the fiscal 2009 by outlining the key focus areas.

Addressing a press conference here, NASSCOM Chairman and Zensar Technologies Global CEO Ganesh Natarajan said, ''NASSCOM has identified six underlying themes for the year which would work as vectors for us to plan initiatives and focussed programmes. These themes will also help to maintain a steady growth curve for the industry.'' Elaborating on the themes, Dr Natarajan said ''we are looking at creativity to enhance the existing opportunity to add revenues over the next five years through product, process and business model innovation. In addition to community and collaboration, the new thrust areas identified include societal development and inclusivity and green IT and education and skill building, which are all extremely critical for sustaining the long-term global leadership.'' Talking about the enhanced focus on BPO sector, NASSCOM Vice Chairman and Genpact president-CEO Pramod Bhasin said, ''at this interesting growth curve, there is a need for increased collaboration of the IT and BPO sectors. We also plan to focus on education and security, through various initiatives.'' Meanwhile, in a statement, NASSCOM president Som Mittal announced the appointment of Mr Raju Bhatnagar as NASSCOM Vice-President.
