Govt approves agreement with Brazil in agriculture
New Delhi, Apr 11 (UNI) The government today approved an agreement with Brazil for cooperation in agriculture and allied sectors.
The sectors include research and development, production technologies and equipment, financing and micro-credit system for small farmers, post harvest management, agro and food processing, cold chain, labs and R and D in the processed food sector, Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.
He said the other sectors include primary processing at farm level, marketing, animal husbandry, dairying, aquaculture and fisheries, sanitary and phyto-sanitary issues, trade in agricultural products, exchange of experiences and expertise in rural development programmes and upgrading rural infrastructure.
Partnership with public and private sector institutions is also envisaged.
The MoU will promote bilateral cooperation through research and development, production, small holder agriculture, post-harvest management, animal husbandry, dairying, aquaculture, fisheries, rural development among others. which will be beneficial for the two countries, Mr Sibal said.
