Noida, Apr 11 (UNI) The main accused in the sensational murder of a former air hostess here, was today sent on seven days' police remand by a local court.
Lachchu alias Nikki Yadav had surrendered in a Noida court yesterday. Sector 20 police took him on seven days' police remand for further questioning. The police were still clueless about his accomplices and belongings of the former air hostess stolen after the crime.
Lachchu (28) is a resident of Sarfabad village in Sector 49. He was earlier allegedly involved in cases of mobile phone snatching, IG (Meerut zone) V K Gupta said.
It appeared that the killing of Sheeba Thomas on Tuesday night could have been prevented if the police had acted promptly on the complaints of three people who had been looted by the motorcycle-borne goons shortly before the former air hostess was shot dead.
The Sector 58 police station did not put out an alert despite complaints lodged by the three people looted near Shatabdi Vihar around 2230 hrs. Thus, the Noida police remained in the dark about the armed motorcyclists on the rampage.
