Cabinet approves ex post facto MoU between India, Mauritius

New Delhi, Apr 11 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today gave its ex post facto approval to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between India and Mauritius in the field of Social Defence including welfare of elders, programmes of drug demand reduction and disabilities.

The MoU was signed by Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Meira Kumar and Social Security Minister of Mauritius on November 3, 2007.

The salient features of the MoU include conducting training programmes in drug abuse prevention, organising training programmes in care and protection of children in difficult circumstances, training programmes in old age care, training workshops in HRD, facilitating exchange of experts between the two countries, commissioning joint research projects and promoting networks and fora of civil society, Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal told reporters.
