Two killed and six injured in Kashmir
Srinagar Apr 10 (UNI) Two persons were killed and six others wounded in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said.
They said a motorcyclist Farooq Ahmad Parray was killed when a vehicle hit him at Charsoo, Awantipora on Srinagar-Jammu national highway today.
They said a vehicle hit and critically wounded one Abdul Ahad Mir at Ganderbal. However, he died before he could be shifted to hospital, sources said adding the driver managed to escape from the accident site.
Six passengers were injured when a vehicle turned turtle near Waripora Kreeri in Baramulla district. The injured were hospitalised, official sources said.
Meanwhile, people belonging to all walks of life have expressed concern over the increasing number of daily deaths in road accidents despite holding of meetings by the authorities to streamline the traffic management.
A high level meeting was held by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Mehboob Iqbal with traffic and other respective departments to streamline the traffic management in Srinagar city.
Srinagar Development Authority was asked to augment parking facilities in the city and constitution of a task force to monitor the traffic situation in the city.
