Segolene calls on CM

Puducherry, Apr 10 (UNI) President of Regional Council of Poitou- Chanentes, France, Segolene Royal called on Chief Minister N Rangasamy here today.

The two were closetted for about 15 minutes. Official sources described it as a courtesy call.

Later, talking to newspersons, she said in collaboration with INDP, her region has realised several projects with microcredit such as dairy, goat rearing, afforestation, desalination and drinking water projects in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

She said she learnt about microcredit from India and practised it in Poitou-Chanentes and had created over 500 microcredit groups.

She said her region was extending 60,000 Euros for the projects here per annum for the last three years and it would continue for another three more years.
