Pondy Govt to consider same DA for AFT staff, workers

Puducherry, Apr 10 (UNI) The Puducherry administration is aware that different dearness allowances were paid to the staff and workers of the Government-owned Anglo-French Textile Mills here and would consider to provide the same DA, Industries Minister V Vaithilingam told the Territorial Assembly today.

The Minister made the statement while replying to a question on the issue. However, no supplementary questions were permitted on the question by the Speaker, who said a calling attention motion on the issue would be taken up shortly and the members could participate in it.

To another question, Chief Minister N Rangasamy said the administration would take steps to protect the interests of the investors in PNL Nidhi Limited and Thirumala Benefit funds, cheated by the finance companies.

When members pointed out that the PNL authorities had moved the Supreme Court, Mr Rangasamy said the administration would appoint qualified advocates to counter them in the apex court.
