Pondy Govt taking steps to nab robbery gang

Puducherry, Apr 10 (UNI) The Puducherry administration is taking steps to nab a gang that indulged in breaking hundis in several temples here, Chief Minster N Rangasamy told the Territorial Assembly today.

Replying to a special mention tabled by AIADMK member A Anbazhagan during zero hour, he said one person was arrested in this connection.

Earlier tabling the special mention, Mr Anbazhagan pointed out that this morning a gang broke open the hundi of an Amman temple at Kakkayanthoppe and decamped with the money. Breaking of hundis in temples was recurring and hundis in atleast 20 temples were broken in the last six months.

CPI member R Viswanathan, through another special mention, brought to the notice of the House the denial of permission to the students of B.Ed college in Karaikal to write their examination in Tamil, to which Education Minister M O H F Shajahan assured to talk to the Vice-Chancellor of the Pondicherry University forthwith.
