One TDP and one Cong worker killed in political clash
Ongole, Apr 10 (UNI) A Telugu Desam Party (TDP) worker and a Congress party worker were killed in a clash between the TDP and Congress partymen at Podili Mandal in Prakasam district here today.
According to police, Ch Kanakaiah (55) of the TDP, an accused in the murder of a Congress party man, G Venkeswara Reddy, was proceeding to Podili to attend a court case along with one J Venkateswarlu, when the supporters of Venkeswara Reddy attacked them with lethal weapons. Kanakaiah was killed on the spot.
Venkateswarulu, who was seriously injured, was admitted to Guntur General Hospital.
In retaliation, the supporters of the Kanakaiah rushed to Akkamma Cheruvu village of Venkeswara Reddy and attacked his brother G. Ramana Reddy, killing him on the spot.
Top police officials, including the Superintendent of Police V Naveen Chand, visited Podili and Akkamma Cheruvu and posted police pickets to maintain law and order.
