Judge refuses to hear controversial Kodanadu Estate case
Chennai, Apr 10 (UNI) Justice K Mohanram today refused to hear the controversial Kodanadu Estate case involving AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa following a threatening letter.
When the case came up for hearing, the judge said that he received a anonymous letter that he should not hear the case.
Hence, he was referring the matter to the Chief Justice.
Mr Sriramalu, appearing for Kodanadu Estate case suggested that the judge could ignore the letter and hear the case. The judge, however, turned down the suggestion.
The case was originally posted before the Justice A Kulasekaran and after he was deputed to Madurai Bench, it was again posted before Mr Mohanram.
Challenging this, the Kodanadu Estate manager Ravichandran filed a petition in the Apex Court. But the Apex Court dismissed the petition stating that the prerogative right of the High Court Chief Justice to post a particular case before a particular Judge could not be questioned.
