Imageworks India launches new facility in Chennai

Chennai, Apr 10 (UNI) Imageworks India, celebrating its first anniversary as part of Sony Pictures Imageworks, the award-winning digital production studio, launched its new facility here today.

''The new office in the International Tech Park at Chennai will accommodate technology advancements. In the first year of operation our primary goal was to integrate the India operation into our production workflow. We have accomplished this by training lead artists from India and mirroring the Culver City production pipeline in Chennai,'' Sony Pictures Imageworks President Tim Sarnoff told newspersons.

In addition to visual effects work, artists in India will now contribute to production of Imageworks' pipelines, including all CG animation, performance capture and 3D stereoscopic production, he said.

The new facility at the International IT Park, Chennai would be capable of housing over 180 artists. The building has a state-of-the- art data centre with high speed internet connectivity to Culver City, sharing the same pipeline along with the proprietary software.
