High School teachers to protest against pay disparity
Mysore, Apr 10 (UNI) The High School teachers taking up valuation SSLC answer scripts would wear black badges as a mark of protest against disparity in high school assistant teachers' pay scales.
Addressing the in a joint press conference Marithibbe Gowda and K T Srikante Gowda, both Members of Legislative Council, said the decision was taken in a meeting attended by representatives of state high school teachers association, PU College principals and lecturers association.
The pay scales of high school teachers and junior technical instructors were equal till 1970 but it changed in the ensuing revision by the pay commission, resulting in the present discrepancy, they said and added that high school teachers were being paid about Rs 2000 less then the junior technical instructors.
They urged the government to change the date of the examination conducted by KPSC on April 20 for recruitment of high school head masters as teachers would be engaged in SSLC valuation or Election duty and would have no time to prepare for the exams.
