DRS group launches new concept carrier vehicle
New Delhi, Apr 10 (UNI) Agarwal Packers&Movers, the flagship unit of the Rs 250 crore DRS group of companies and the market leader in relocation segment, today launched a 'Double Door - Double Home Carrier', a first of its kind container that would provide quality relocation service at an affordable price.
The new vehicle, divided in two parts by a partition, can load household goods of two families and the transportation cost for both families will come down by 40 per cent.
Unveiling the vehicle, DRS Jt Managing Director Ramesh Agarwal said the innovative container, designed by Eicher, is 20 feet long and 7.2 ft in width while its height is 8 ft.
Mr Agarwal said the strategy behind the innovative move is to play on the volume game. ''On a single trip, the new vehicle can now load all household goods of two households (having a two-bedroom set). This will enable us to give 40 per cent concession in transportation cost to both the families, and it makes a sound business sense for the company,'' he pointed out.
Dr Kiran Bedi, India's first woman IPS officer and a Ramon Magsaysay Award winner, was the chief guest on the occasion.
Mr Agarwal said DRS Group, which started its operation with a signle truck in 1986, has now 900 vehicles owned by it while another 900 vehicles have been hired by it.
Comapring the vehicle with Tata's 'Nano' and Deccan Air's initiative to provide air service to the common people, he said the double door vehicle would be for ''everybody and anybody as it is in the interest of our customers.'' Agarwal Packers&Movers, an ISO: 9001 company having more than three lakh customers, has 90 branches in 40 cities of the country.
''Our target is to earn Rs 1000 crore by 2010 and Rs 8000 crore by 2018, and this appears to be achievable if if we are able to strategise our manpower and provide quality and affordable services to the burgeoning customer base,'' said Mr J M Saxena, Advisor to the company which offers total logistics solutions.
