COBC urges LF Govt to implement new reservation order
Kolkata, Apr 10 (UNI) The confederation of Other Backward Classes(COBC) here today welcomed the Supreme Court's verdict for 27 per cent reservation for the OBCs in admission to the Centrally-run institutions of higher education such as IITs, IIMs and AIIMS.
COBC, S/C, S/T and Minority of West Bengal's General Secretary Kartik Chandra Kapas, in a statement, expressed hope that the Left Front Government would implement the new provisions in higher educational institutions, including medical and engineering. The new order would definitely develop socially and educationally OBC youths across the country.
A five-judge Constitution bench, headed by Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan, cleared the decks for implementation of the reservation policy from the coming academic session that is 2008-2009.
