Women Congress members stage dharna demanding party tickets

Bangalore, Apr 9(UNI) The members of Women Wing of the Karnataka Congress today staged a dharna in front of the KPCC office here and demanded adequate representation to women in the coming assembly elections in Karantaka.

The women leaders and workers of the party holding placards demanded 33 per cent reservation in party tickets and urged the party leaders to look into their demands and give more number of seats for fair sex.

The agitation was led by the members of the City Unit of the party. They were joined by Legislative Council member Mallajamma.

The Dharna was held when Senior party leaders including union minister and Karantaka party in charge Prithviraj Chavan and Vayalar Ravi, KPCC President Mallikarjuna Kharge and others holding meeting inside the KPCC office.

Mr Kharge who come out from the meeting heard the woman members' grievances and promised to convey their feelings to party higher ups.

"It is also the desire of party president Sonia Gandhi to accommodate more number of women and youth in the Congress list and taking into consideration their winning chances. The party will take a suitable decision on it," Mr Kharge assured.
