Transport Authority to be established

Mumbai, Apr 9 (UNI) Maharashtra government will set up a Transport Authority to serve as a coordinating agency among the municipal corporations of Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, Dombivali, Navi Mumbai and Mira-Bhyander.

Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh told the Legislative Council that the Authority would be set up after receiving the consent from these municipal corporations.

The Authority would be entrusted the responsibility of easing the city transportation. The BEST bus system would also be brought under its ambit, Mr Deshmukh added.
