Need concerted efforts for Arunachal's development: Governor

Itanagar, Apr 09 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh would record one of the best GDP and per capita income, if concerted and coordinated efforts are put in place by all government machineries in implementing the development initiatives of New Delhi, Governor General (Retd) J J Singh has said.

Addressing a review meeting of the state's development activities at Raj Bhawan here yesterday, the former Army chief called for collective efforts by all concerned to work towards the all-round development of the state, official sources here today informed.

Terming peace as a pre-requisite for development, the governor said that terrorism must be contained at any cost to bring about balanced development and further stressed on the need for collective approach in maintaining law and order.

Emphasising on adequate publicity of government policies and programmes, especially under the industries, tourism, horticulture and related sectors to provide them the much-needed exposure, besides promoting private investments in the state, Mr Singh also insisted on involving private sectors in tapping the state's horticulture potential.

Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, on his part, emphasized timely submission of utilisation certificates on projects and proper monitoring in implementing Prime Minister's package announced during his maiden visit to the state on January last.

Earlier, Chief Secretary Tabom Bam urged the officers to enhance their efficiency to give proper shape to the state's developmet initiatives.

The commissioners and secretaries presented the developmental activities and action plans taken up in their respective departments with particular reference to the PM's package for Arunachal, sources informed.

The day-long meeting was attended by all the ministers, commissioners, secretaries and other high ranking government officials among others, sources added.
